The Tsuneishi Group of Companies, through its philanthropic arm Tsuneishi Foundation (Cebu), Inc. (TFCI) shared the spirit of Christmas through gift giving at Brgy. Bakhawan, Daan Bantayan, Cebu on December 22, 2013, just days before Christmas.
President Hitoshi Kono together with the 35 employee-volunteers brought smiles to the super typhoon victims of Brgy. Bakhawan. Around 600 families received a grocery pack which includes five kilos of rice, powdered drink, crackers, canned goods, spaghetti, among other necessities.
Used clothes, blankets, towels as well as toys donated by the employees of Tsuneishi Group-Japan shipyard, were also distributed. One of the highlights of the activity was the distribution of toys. This brought priceless smiles on the children's faces and most of all the feeling of hope. “We are more than happy to see all your smiles and the hopes in your eyes,” said President Kono to the beneficiaries.
The group aimed to spread the spirit of Christmas even during this trying times and help out even in the smallest of ways. After all, Christmas is the time for giving and spreading happiness.
Brgy. Captain of Bakhawan, Daan Bantayan Hon. Bernardito Luche, Jr. thanked the foundation for making their Christmas meaningful and less lonely.
This is the second phase of relief efforts for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda with its first on November 17, 2013, days after the super typhoon hit Northern Cebu on November 8. Around 4,200 families received relief packs in 14 barangays of Bantayan Island and Northern Cebu.
